Supporting those affected by cancer Life changes the moment cancer becomes part of your story - whether you're going through treatment, supporting a loved one, living with loss, or in recovery. It affects not just the body, but the heart, mind, and spirit too. This free Reiki event is here to offer a safe space for you to pause, breathe, and receive gentle support in a relaxed and nurturing environment.
Why We’re Offering This Event This event is run by a collective of qualified and insured Reiki therapists, many of whom have personally experienced the impact of cancer—either through their own journey or by supporting someone close. We’ve seen first-hand how exhausting and emotionally overwhelming this experience can be. This is our way of giving something back: offering time, care, and compassion to anyone affected by cancer, in any capacity. We believe in creating community, connection, and calm. You deserve space to simply rest, recharge, and feel held. What is Reiki—and How Does it Support Cancer Care? Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive healing practice that works by supporting the body’s natural ability to relax and heal. Reiki in Cancer Support & Clinical Settings Reiki is increasingly being offered in hospitals, hospices, and cancer support centres around the world. While it is not a cure for cancer, studies have shown it can significantly improve quality of life for those affected. ✅ A 2019 study published in Palliative & Supportive Care found that Reiki can reduce anxiety and pain in cancer patients receiving outpatient treatment. ✅ The American Cancer Society acknowledges Reiki as a supportive therapy that can help with stress reduction, pain relief, and overall wellbeing. ✅ A study published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Managemente valuated a Reiki volunteer program within two cancer infusion centers. Outpatients receiving Reiki during infusion reported clinically significant improvements in all symptoms, high levels of satisfaction, and a qualitatively positive healing experience. ✅ A randomised controlled trial undertaken ion 2021 found that Reiki therapy can be used as a nursing intervention to increase the quality of life and reduce fatigue in breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. ✅ An observational study, published in February 2025, of a volunteer multi-hospital Reiki program for outpatients with cancer and other chronic illnesses receiving infusion therapy found that outpatients receiving Reiki during infusion reported clinically significant improvements in all symptoms, high levels of satisfaction, and a qualitatively positive healing experience. ✅ Many NHS cancer centres and charities, such as Macmillan and Maggie’s, now offer Reiki as part of their integrative care programs. These studies suggest that Reiki may offer supportive benefits for cancer patients, particularly in managing symptoms and enhancing quality of life. Patients often report feeling calmer, more rested, and more emotionally supported after sessions - sometimes for the first time in a long while.
