Why I Don’t Offer Reiki Attunements Online Reiki is a powerful, healing practice that has been passed down through generations, with great care and respect for its sacred traditions. As a Reiki practitioner and teacher, I’m often asked if I can provide online attunements, or 'just the attunements' and not the full workshop.
So I thought I'd write a blog post why I don’t offer Reiki attunements online or provide "just attunements" without the full workshop experience. The truth is, Reiki isn’t just a technique - it’s a profound, transformative journey that requires a personal connection, a deep understanding of its principles, and the energy of a teacher to guide you. Here's why I believe Reiki attunements should be in-person, and never be rushed or taken lightly. The Importance of Being Professional In my work as a Reiki Master teacher, I follow core national standards to ensure that my students receive the best, most ethical, and respectful training possible, so that they in turn offer a professional service to clients. These standards are in place to protect the integrity of Reiki and to ensure that all students are taught the full scope of knowledge needed to understand and use Reiki safely and effectively. Whilst Reiki (like most holistic therapies) is unregulated, practitioners who operate professional quite often join a (voluntary) membership body (such as the Reiki Federation) and also have public liability insurance. In my experience it can be hard to join a professional body and gain insurance without having in-person Reiki attunements. Reiki is not just a method for healing - it’s a spiritual practice that affects your mind, body, and energy. When attunements are done properly, they are given with the intention of creating a sacred space for the student to receive the full benefit of the energy. By adhering to established standards, we ensure that the attunements are powerful, effective, and given with proper guidance. Reiki Is a Sacred Practice Passed Down from Master to Student Reiki attunements are a sacred and important part of the Reiki journey. They’re not just about receiving symbols or techniques - they’re about an energetic shift that deepens your connection to universal energy. This transmission is traditionally done in person, from master to student, as part of a sacred bond. When you receive an attunement, you're not just learning how to use Reiki; you're also beginning a journey of personal transformation. This sacred process requires the presence and energy of a teacher to guide you, support you, and hold space for your growth. The energy exchange between a teacher and a student is deeply personal, and it’s something that can’t be fully replicated online. Reiki Requires Teaching, Not Just Attunements Reiki is more than just a series of symbols or a process of "attuning" to energy - it’s about understanding the philosophy behind the practice, learning how to connect with your own energy and the energy of others, and developing a deep respect for the practice. Reiki requires teaching, reflection, and hands-on experience. In my Reiki workshops, I not only provide the attunements but also teach about the history, ethics, and applications of Reiki. You’ll receive the tools, guidance, and support you need to practice Reiki in a responsible, grounded, and effective way. Simply offering an attunement without the full workshop means missing out on vital parts of the Reiki journey—parts that will help you integrate and apply Reiki in your life in a meaningful way. Why I Don’t Offer 'Just Attunements' I don’t offer “just attunements” because I believe that Reiki should be treated with respect, and its teachings should be understood fully. Offering attunements without the context of the full Reiki workshop diminishes the sacredness of the practice. It’s important to me that my students are well-prepared, knowledgeable, and confident in their Reiki practice, and that’s only possible when the full process is followed. The full Reiki journey is about personal transformation, spiritual growth, and healing—both for yourself and for those you choose to work with. It’s not something to be rushed or taken lightly. In Conclusion Reiki is a sacred, life-changing practice that deserves to be approached with care, respect, and the right support. While online courses and shortcuts may seem convenient, they can’t replace the deep, transformative energy exchange that happens in an in-person setting. Reiki attunements should always be given with intention, and I firmly believe that receiving them in person, as part of a full workshop, allows you to experience the full depth and healing potential that Reiki offers. If you're ready to begin your Reiki journey, I’d love to support you through the full, authentic process. Together, we’ll explore the sacred tradition of Reiki and open the door to your healing potential. Comments are closed.
