EFT involves tapping specific points on the body, primarily on the head and the face, in a particular sequence whilst focusing on the challenge you wish to overcome.
What is the Emotional Freedom / Tapping Technique?
EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques. EFT is a practical self-help method that involves using the fingers to gently tap on the body's acupuncture points along the meridian lines of Chinese medicine. It is often referred to as ‘EFT Tapping’ or simply as ‘Tapping’. The therapeutic effects of this technique are recognised around the world.
Benefits of EFT Tapping
EFT Tapping helps us tune in to the negative patterns that we form around our uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, or troubling memories. We ‘tap’ on the correct pressure points while bringing the thoughts or emotions into consciousness. The aim is to find relief, relaxation, and promote healing around the emotional or physical issues that hold us back.
EFT Tapping is used for:
Trauma
Anxiety
Stress
Depression
Phobias and Fears
Weight loss
Low self esteem
Pain
What to Expect
During a series of sessions, I help you to “tap into" your unique subjective experience of a presenting challenge (or troubling issue/s) for the purpose of gaining clarity and resolution. This supports you in making changes (emotional and/or physical), shifting limited thought processes, resolving past traumas, opening to beneficial ways to move forward and more.
This method of gentle tapping on certain areas of the face and body while tuning into an issue, helps you relieve stress and feel better in the moment.
I can provide sessions in my therapy room or remotely online. We have an initial consultation where we discuss your medical history and needs and agree a plan of action. If you suffer from depression, epilepsy or asthma I will need your GP's consent to work with you and will write to your surgery Practice Manager Requesting this.
A session typically lasts for 1 hour. During a a session we will use a mix of therapeutic approaches, including EFT, to deal with the situations that you find challenging, working to release, frame and refocus.
At the end of a session/treatment plan we will agree next steps. I will provide you with support so that you can undertake self tapping at home, it is an effective tool that you can use whenever you need to. As we work collaboratively it is important that you undertake any actions we agree before the next session.
