What is a Swedish Body Massage?

A Swedish body massage is a relaxing holistic treatment that uses gentle strokes and light to mid pressure to help relaxation and release muscle tension. Swedish massage aims to loosen up tight muscles caused by daily activities such as sitting at the computer or exercising. It can be very helpful for people who hold a lot of tension in their lower back, shoulders and neck. In addition your legs and arms are also massaged to give your whole body relaxation.

During a Swedish Massage I use a range of massage techniques to relax you and to aid blood flow and lymph drainage; kneading, long strokes and deep circular movements. I use a beautiful massage oil, it's ingredients and aroma designed to further enhance the relaxation experience.

If you have an area of particular concern, such as a tight neck, please let me know and I will spend more time in this area. Please also let me know if you prefer light, medium, or firm pressure.

What to Expect When You Have a Massage

For this treatment you will be asked to remove your clothes (apart from lower underwear) and you will lie on the couch, enjoying the warmth from the electric blanket, with towels/blankets draped over you to protect your modesty and keep you warm. You will begin on your back or your stomach and flip over at the halfway point.

During your treatment you may choose to be quiet so as to truly calm your mind and body but you are encouraged to speak up if you feel uncomfortable in any way or need to ask a question. ​

A full treatment usually takes a maximum of 60 minutes. Why not follow your massage with a reiki boost? One of my most popular therapies, you enjoy 60 mins of relaxing massage and then 15 minutes of lovely healing reiki energy, a perfect way to unwind and restore energy.
