What is Reiki Healing
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone, and animals, of all ages can use. This tradition was founded by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century and evolved as a result of his research, experience and dedication.
In Japanese, the word "rei" refers to a higher intelligence that permeates all living and nonliving entities and guides the inherent functioning of the universe. The word "ki" refers to the nonphysical energy that flows through everything that is alive, including plants, animals, and human beings—because of this, ki is also often called "life force energy," and is known as qi or chi from other lineages. The combination of these two words is what defines Reiki as "spiritually guided life-force energy."
We live in a world of energy that nourishes and maintains all living things. When this energy flows uninterrupted there is balance and harmony within and around us, and we experience a sense of well being. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.As a holistic and complementary therapy, Reiki healing is now used regularly alongside conventional medicine.
It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. Effective for both both adults and children, plus animals, Reiki can also be sent as distant healing to those who need it.
In a Reiki therapy session I tune into the universal energy around me and allow it to flow through my body and into the recipient via my hands, gently unlocking areas of slow moving energy.

You remain fully clothed during the treatment but you will be asked to remove your shoes, watch, jewellery and spectacles. Reiki passes through anything, even plastercasts, and therefore there is no need to remove any clothing during a healing session.
You will be made comfortable lying down on a massage couch, or seated in a chair, calming music will help you to relax. The main thing is for you to be as comfortable as possible. During your treatment you may choose to be quiet so as to truly calm your mind and body but you are encouraged to speak up if you feel uncomfortable in any way or need to ask a question.
I gently place my hands non-intrusively in a sequence of positions which cover the whole body. In this way the mind, body and emotions are treated at the same time, rather than specific symptoms. Working intuitively I trust the communication between yourself and the energy between my hands to find the blockages. Additional placements on the limbs can be done as needed - for example, if there is an injury or surgical scar.
There is no massage or manipulation in the session just a light placing of the hands on the body. No intimate areas will be touched. If you do not wish to be touched please say because the Reiki will work just as well off the body.
A full treatment usually takes a minimum of 1 hour although shorter sessions can be arranged. Why not mix and match therapies. Many clients enjoy an Indian Head Massage followed by reiki healing, a wonderful way to relax and restore energy. Alternatively why not try hypno-reiki, where you are put into a wonderful relaxed altered state and encouraged to release and let go of any tension, stress and anxiety. Beautiful reiki healing energy is then shared with you, to bring balance and sooth emotions, and to boost energy and positivity.
Distance Reiki
You do not have to physically visit Love Reiki to benefit from reiki healing. Reiki can be sent by distance, we can work together remotely. What You Might Experience When Having Reiki
You may feel heat, tingling or coolness as your body takes in the Reiki energy. You may feel these sensations more in certain areas where more energy is flowing or you may feel nothing very much at all apart from a deep sense of comfort and peace. Many people drift in and out of sleep, most say it is the most relaxed they have felt in a long time.
Everyone experiences Reiki differently. Some feel a slight tingling or sensations of warmth or coolness, others just a deep relaxation. Some find themselves in a deep meditative state whilst others feel rejuvenated and energised. Some even fall into a deep and refreshing sleep. Other common experiences are subtle pulsations where the practitioner's hands are placed or cascading waves of pulsations throughout the body.
Sometimes the experience of Reiki is dramatic, while for other people, the first session in particular may be uneventful, although they feel somehow better afterward. The most common experience is an almost immediate release of stress and a feeling of deep relaxation.

How Often Should You Have Reiki?
People ask how many reiki sessions are needed? I believe that if you are going through a difficult time then you will notice the benefits after a series of 3-4 sessions. Once things are cleared I suggest a monthly session to keep your energy balanced and your emotions calm.
Reiki is cumulative and even people who don't notice much the first time usually have progressively deeper experiences if they continue. Besides the immediate experience of the Reiki, you may notice other changes that continue to unfold as the day goes on: perhaps stronger digestion, a sense of being more centered and poised and less reactive, and sleeping deeply that night.
